What is one thing anyone can do to alleviate stress and overwhelm one feels as a vegan?
What is that one special tool that we have at the tip of our fingers at all times?
That, ladies and gents, is meditation.
I’ve talked about it before but it doesn’t hurt if I try to convince you to start a meditation practice once again, huh? I heard that repetition works so might as well give it a try.
The biggest reason why I recommend this meditation resource is that it is made for people who just want to be more peaceful and calm, not hear a bunch of New Age shit on the side.
Because that’s the only thing you need. To sit down, close your eyes, breathe and focus on the experience of inhaling and exhaling.
Most people think that meditation is about not thinking and becoming enlightened. There is a myth that by meditating you will become the next – or close to – Buddha, walking without any attachment and only spreading positive vibes.
Meditation is about learning to observe the thoughts that happen to fly by. You are not the thinker of them, but when you grab them and don’t let go, you might as well see yourself as one.
To stay sane in a non-vegan world it is crucial to know how to be selective of the thoughts you allow to linger in your head. It will take time, practice and patience, sure, but it will also give you space to explore your mindset and who you are beneath all the titles, opinions and names.
I cannot promise you a peaceful life but I can promise that you will choose peace over hate more often. And that’s all you fucking need!
Why would you ever think that meditation is about perfect peace when the chaos we create is the reason we value calmness so much? How can you appreciate love if you avoid feeling hate?
Stop using the P-word. Seriously, stop it. Until you accept all feelings you’ve been trying to avoid, you will never truly appreciate when you actually do reach that phase.
Start small and start without having any goals. You don’t need that baggage now.
