Things I don’t like about the vegan community.

vegan community

I’ve been vegan for a few years now and even though I like what we are doing and I believe vegans have so much kindness in their hearts, there are a few bad seeds that need to be stopped.

Yes, there are vegans whose actions concern me and I need to talk about them.

One of the things I firmly believe in is the ability to look at what we like and see if something is off. With the vegan community, you have millions of individuals who have their own beliefs, ideas and ideologies.

Although everyone is allowed to be vegan, it’s also important to understand that being one doesn’t make you immune to criticism. Just because you are vegan doesn’t mean you are above others.

That’s where I come in.

I have no problem admitting that I am not a fan of all vegans. Sure, I think every vegan is someone’s cup of tea, but that doesn’t mean they are not cringy and a bit dangerous for the movement in general.

I want to go over a few types of vegans who I believe are harming the community if not society in general.

  • The first type of vegans who I have a problem with are people who identify as Liberals and judge Conservatives, not based on their character, but on their political beliefs. See, I believe that Conservatives are not bad people and that being a Liberal doesn’t make someone a superior human. I like to view veganism as a lifestyle suitable for everyone who wants to harm fewer animals. I don’t see the point in judging a pro-life Trump voter for what they believe in when we have in common love for other animals. It’s just better to focus on our similarities, instead of differences. I wrote about why we need Conservatives on our side here.
  • The second type of vegans I have a problem with are anti-vaccine people. Look, if you don’t want to vaccine yourself because you believe you will suddenly become autistic that’s your problem, but we share this problem when you force this unscientific belief on your children. Kids are dying all over the globe because their parents are paranoid conspiracy maniacs, and having vegans join this insanity just makes it even worse. No rational intelligent person will want to consider going vegan if the loudest in the group are wearing shirts that say Vaccines Kill.
  • The third type of vegans I have a problem with are health freaks who go all crazy when they see a fat vegan or a junk food vegan. Listen, I understand you are *concerned* with their health but veganism is not about health, it is about other animals. Going vegan doesn’t mean you have to work out and eat clean. It is advised but not expected because as long as you avoid animal products, you are free to do whatever you want.

These are just a few types of vegans that I have a problem with and I would love to know if you agree with me – or if there are any other types that you personally dislike. Leave me a comment below.

I don’t want any of these people to be silenced but they should be judged because they are creating a very hostile community and people don’t want that when they go vegan.

It’s also extremely problematic to preach against vaccines, doctors and drugs because most people depend on them and it’s dangerous to say that *nature and CBD oil will heal you*. It just doesn’t work like that.

Veganism is based on the fact that other animals suffer and that we can survive without eating them, but don’t preach about vegan facts when you turn around and think taking a pill for period pains is going to destroy your health.

As I said, I want them to use their voice and be free to say whatever they want, but that doesn’t mean I am not concerned with how they are influencing youngsters who would rather trust a YouTuber than a scientific study.

They may be my fellow vegans, but above all, they are my fellow flawed human beings. It’s okay to call each other out, it doesn’t make us any less vegan.
