It’s one day closer to the end of this year and time flies so quickly, guys!
I thought now will be the perfect time to talk about what to do when you want to go vegan but are not sure where to start. I talked about it so many times before, but maybe this is the post you are waiting for.
Sometimes we can hear about something a million times but it is never from the right person or in the right way. Perhaps this post will change something and you will decide to slowly transition to becoming a vegan.
The main thing to remember is that you can start today. You can start going vegan now; there is no need to wait until times are better. If we all waited until that magical day, none of us would be eating plant-based.
Here are the steps you can take if you want to go vegan now:
- Start learning about veganism and what it means to live this lifestyle. You can ditch all animal products overnight but if you are not aware of what foods are high in iron and calcium, you will sooner or later fall sick and quit – I wrote about that phenomena a bit here. Veganism is a lifestyle, not a diet but at the end of the day, we eat at least 3 times a day and knowing the basics of plant-based nutrition is just plain necessary.
- Start adding more and more plants and fruits on your plate. Take a few weeks to transition and in the meantime start shifting your meals to be more plant-based. If you are attached to eating meat, find plant-based alternatives and enjoy them! The brand that has the best vegan meats, that taste authentic, is Veganz.
- Find a mentor or someone who will support you. If that is not possible then just follow people on social media to feel motivated to continue + that way you are reminding yourself that just because you may be the only vegan in town it does not mean you are the only vegan in the world. This really helped me when I was transitioning, because seeing all these plant-eaters around the globe reminded me that I was not alone.
Education + Progress + Support = Going vegan easier.
I know that seeing all the changes you will have to make is making your stomach turn in circles, but when the change is worth it, there is really nothing that should hold you back. Especially not yourself.
I wish every new vegan experienced the excitement I felt when I decided to start living this compassionate lifestyle. Sure, I was struggling at times and sometimes it was really hard, but overall, I was looking forward to all the changes!
