Borderline Personality Disorder books

It’s been a while since I came out and shared that I have Borderline Personality Disorder.

Those who reached out to me have been incredibly kind. Not many people like pwBPD, so it is always heartwarming to see that I have not lost my readers due to my diagnosis.

There are already millions of people on social media who believe we are pure evil, that it feels pretty comforting to know not everyone is like that.

If only we would understand more and judge less. Can you imagine a world where we are safe, no matter our differences? A world that actually helps mentally ill individuals instead of making horror movies that stigmatize and spread misinformation?

Perhaps there will come a day when all of this is true but until then…

Today I want to share with you some of my favourite resources that continue helping me manage the symptoms. And holy cannoli do I need all the help I can get.

As a reader, I am always looking for new literature to consume. I am hungry for knowledge. It brings me so much joy when I can smell the fresh new pages of a newly printed material.

I am particularly fond of workbooks that are interactive and act as a diary I can fill with my words and thoughts. I like doing all the exercises right after finishing the chapter.

That is why I want to share with you my favourite Borderline Personality Disorder books:

DBT and mindfulness are at the core of treating BPD. Pills and therapy help, of course, but you have to use the skills on your own, all the time.

This book manages to dive deep into the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy treatment and clearly helps you plan your recovery. Also, it’s a short read.

If you are newly diagnosed, you will find all the information about the disorder in this book. It goes very deep and offers a ton of exercises.

Even though it may be quite overwhelming at times, the design is well made and the book itself is organized. It is perfect if you are looking for a present to give to someone, so they can learn about your condition.

Dr Daniel J Fox has been a very important part of my BPD journey. His YouTube channel has taught me that recovery is possible and within my reach. With this workbook, that compliments his channel so well, you also get to have daily homework of sorts.

It helped me find my subtype and get very clear on my biggest triggers. I’ve learnt a lot about my own mind and what pushes me over the edge, by reading this book.

I continue using them to this day, even if I have already gone through all the exercises. Simply reading and thinking about my past answers helps me learn.

If you feel paranoid that someone could invade your privacy by reading your workbooks, use Google Docs instead. This is something I struggled with in the past and I know it can hold you back from doing the work.

You are doing this for yourself. Because you want to feel better. You want to feel normal. Because you are tired of the pain. All of these reasons are valid.

You should be your first and highest priority. Not a single person in this entire world will ever care about you as much as you must. I know it is difficult but we are born alone and we will die alone too.

These Borderline Personality Disorder books can help you manage those symptoms that make it difficult to be kind to yourself. I’m not going to lie. It will be painful and uncomfortable. But personality disorders are lonely disorders.

As much as we have each other, we have to fight our own demons.
