I first heard of Dr James R Doty on the Making Sense podcast.

As someone who left the New Age cult and is now very critical of everything that sounds too good to be true, I found James to be testing my ability to trust someone who talks about visualization as a tool to success.

But I respect Sam Harris and I knew he would not engage in such a heartfelt conversation with someone he didn’t trust.

So I listened…

I found myself smiling from ear to ear when I realized that visualization is not just some woo-woo spiritual thing, but an actual tool that science confirms works to help us get better.

One thing led to another and I ordered Into The Magic Shop: A Neurosurgeon’s Quest to Discover the Mysteries of the Brain and the Secrets of the Heart, a book James wrote, the second I stopped listening to their conversation.

If the book was half as good as what they spoke about, I knew magic was about to enter my life soon.

And it did.

I started reading it the minute I got it and put it down only a few hours later when I read every single word, from the first to the last page.

I had my heart broken open when I entered the world of magic in the book. It was such a long time since I last felt hope and believed I can turn my life around.

Reading about how James knew his life was more than what he was born into, I cried thinking of how much I resemble him. I too know my life is more than misery, and with a bit of magic, I too can make my dreams come true.

Right?

Yes, but this book is more than just a how-to manual to help you overcome your obstacles and achieve your wildest dreams.

While you do learn the tools that will help you improve your life’s conditions – and probably even reach all your goals -, you also learn about how to know what you truly want and whether or not you really need it.

Into The Magic Shop is a reminder that we are so much happier when we are compassionate to others; when we reach out and pour out all the love we have in our hearts.

Sure, you can get a million and a beautiful house, but the real joy comes from being a good human and giving to others our love, trust and kindness.

In this day and age, we need someone to remind us what truly brings us pleasure and satisfaction in life – Into The Magic Shop does just that and more.
